Shadow of a doubt? Not this time — Freddie predicts more winter

Pack up your hopes for an early spring — French Creek Freddie saw his shadow Monday morning, meaning six more weeks of winter are headed our way.

Gov. Patrick Morrisey joined the crowd at the West Virginia Wildlife Center in Upshur County to watch the state’s official groundhog deliver his verdict. Freddie has been making his furry forecasts for 49 years, and given the frigid January we just had, we’re inclined to believe him this time.
