ALUM CREEK, W.Va. — The lease agreement between the Bruce B. Cameron Foundation and the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) that established the Morris Creek Wildlife Management Area (WMA) has expired and will not be renewed, according to Kem Shaw, WVDNR District 5 wildlife biologist, Wildlife Resources Section. Effective immediately, the Morris Creek WMA will no longer be a part of the agency’s WMA system.

The Bruce B. Cameron Foundation has chosen not to renew the lease with the WVDNR due to a change in marketing strategies and land use. Morris Creek WMA was located in northern Kanawha and southern Clay counties south of Clendenin, totaling 9,874 acres. The WVDNR will continue to explore land acquisition opportunities in this region of the state.

Please contact the WVDNR District 5 office at 304-756-0123 for additional information.
