The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Tuesday that 1093 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s a decrease of 166 since the last report.
Locally, COVID-19 cases are active in Upshur (13), Barbour (3), Lewis (15), Randolph (23) and Webster (4) counties. In Upshur County, that’s an increase of two active cases since Friday.
Two additional deaths have been attributed to the disease over the weekend, according to the DHHR – a 72-year old female from Kanawha County and a 93-year old male from Mercer County.
“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of July 6, 2021, there have been 3,027,206 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 164,279 total cases and 2,901 deaths,” according to a press release.
The daily percent positive was 1.14%.
A total of 836,954 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said. That’s about 47% of the state. The state also passed the 1 million milestone of residents with at least one dose of the vaccine.
