Mollie Mardell Snyder Stemple

Mollie Mardell Snyder Stemple, 98, of Buckhannon, awakened to eternal life on Friday, August 11, 2023. She passed in the comfort of her home under the compassionate care of WVU Medicine Hospice.

She was born in French Creek on July 30, 1925, a daughter of the late Parley M. and Ora E. Moreland Snyder.

On September 6, 1944, all of Mardell’s dreams came true when she married the love of her life, Earsel Harry Stemple, who passed December 20, 2020. Together they remained united in marriage for 76 amazing years and shared the joys of raising their three daughters. Also preceding her in death are one infant brother, Guy Richard Snyder; sister, Marlene Kerns Landis; one nephew, Sherwood Kerns.

Forever cherishing their memories of Mardell are three daughters: Sandra S. Bennett, Rebecca E. Jackson and husband, Doug, and Melodie A. Stemple and husband, Scott Tennant, all of Buckhannon; two grandchildren: Sarah M. Bennett-Harper and husband, John, of Charles Town, and Steven Bennett and wife, Amanda, of Millwood; three great-grandchildren: Zoe M. Harper of Charles Town, and Kayleigh S. Bennett and Hallie D. Bennett both of Millwood; one brother-in-law and his wife; and several nieces and nephews.

Mardell worked at G.O. Young Drug Store and Style Shop and was the first chairwoman of the B-U Band Calendar. She was a big supporter of her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s activities. Mardell and Earsel loved to camp at their spot in Bemis, WV for over 50 years. They both were still camping up into their 90’s. She was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. Mardell was also a member of Wesley Crusaders Sunday School Class and volunteered with many fundraisers at the church. In her early years, she sang in the Adrian Methodist Church Choral Group and Evangel United Methodist Church. Mardell was always caring for the ministers and their families at every church she was a member. She will be remembered for her homemade pies, hot rolls, sharing all her cooking skills with friends and neighbors, and most of all, her sense of humor.

She always said give me my flowers while I am alive, so in lieu of flowers please make donations to: Chapel Hill United Methodist Church Memorial Fund and mailed to 88 S. Kanawha Street, Buckhannon, WV, 26201, or the Salvation Army and mailed to 21 North Spring Street, Buckhannon, WV 26201.

Friends and family will gather for Visitation at Clutter Funeral and Cremation located at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 14, 2023. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. in the Clutter Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Helen Oats and Reverend Robert Cole officiating. Interment will follow in the Upshur County Memorial Park in Tennerton.

We, at Clutter Funeral and Cremation, are honored and privileged to serve the family of Mollie Mardell Snyder Stemple. Online condolences may be expressed at www.ClutterFuneralHome.com.
