Missing Vienna woman found deceased near Elkins

A 64-year-old Vienna woman who had been missing for more than a week was found dead Wednesday evening near Elkins, according to the West Virginia State Police.

Gabriellie L. Allen was found at approximately 7:30 p.m. on March 25 by a private landowner who was tending to his property, according to a press release from Sgt. S.C. Allen of the State Police. Her body was located adjacent to US Route 219 on private property along an abandoned log road, not far from where search teams had initially focused their efforts.

Mrs. Allen was reported missing on March 15 after she was last seen shortly after midnight at a residence on Rolling Lane in Elkins. Trooper T.J. Sclimenti responded to the missing persons complaint and was advised that Mrs. Allen had been diagnosed with mental health issues and was taking several medications at the time of her disappearance.

Personal belongings of Mrs. Allen had been found along US Route 219 during the initial search. Multiple agencies, including search and rescue teams and K-9 units, searched the area but were unable to locate her.

Next of kin has been notified. The investigation remains ongoing.
