BUCKHANNON – The 16-year-old Buckhannon girl who was reported missing earlier this month has been found.

Trooper J.S. Tonkin, investigating officer with the Buckhannon detachment of the West Virginia State Police, said Olivia Hite had been found safe and is now home.

Tonkin located her sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot of Village Hardware in French Creek at about 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, he said.

“She’s safe, and she’s been returned to her mother,” Tonkin said.

Hite’s mother reported her as a runaway to state police Thursday, Dec. 5. Hite attends Buckhannon-Upshur High School.
