Manchin votes to confirm Frank W. Volk as U.S. District Court Judge of the Southern District of West Virginia

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) today voted in support of President Trump’s nominee for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia, Frank W. Volk, during his confirmation vote in the Senate. Volk was confirmed 92-0.

“As a fellow West Virginian, I am proud to support Frank’s confirmation today as a U.S. District Court Judge. Frank shows the country how West Virginians act and serve through his hard work as a public servant. West Virginia and the federal bench need judges that are thoughtful, hardworking and have good judgement.

Frank fits that role perfectly. He brings a tremendous level of experience to the bench and I am pleased that today the Senate confirmed him to continue serving West Virginia and our nation,” said Senator Manchin.

Currently, Judge Volk serves as the Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of West Virginia. He also teaches at West Virginia University (WVU)’s College of Law. During his career, he has authored a number of bankruptcy articles and spoken at national and regional conferences on bankruptcy matters.

Previously, Judge Volk clerked for several high-profile judges in both the West Virginia and federal courts, including, U.S. District Judges Charles H. Haden II, John T. Copenhaver, Jr., and U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals Judge M. Blane Michael.
