Man flees from deputy, wrecks Harley Davidson motorcycle on Ivy Road

On Wednesday, May 18, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Chief Deputy Michael Coffman stopped a 2001 green Harley Davidson motorcycle on Little Sand Run Road.

As the officer was approaching the motorcycle, the driver accelerated rapidly and continued to flee at an extremely high rate of speed. Coffman, Deputy T.R. Collins and Trooper P.J. Robinette pursued said vehicle down Little Sand Run and Ivy Road.

The driver of the motorcycle, Anthony Wayne Rowan, 48, of Buckhannon, was traveling at approximately 73 mph on unlined roads. He lost control multiple times but was able to regain control. When the driver continued through a yard and up a steep embankment on the Ivy Road, he lost control and crashed.

Rowan has been charged with Felony Fleeing, Driving while License Suspended (2nd Offense), No Insurance, and Improper Registration. He is currently housed at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
