Louise ‘Pooch’ Audrey McClure

Louise “Pooch” Audrey McClure, 73, of Buckhannon, slipped gently into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, September 17, 2022, from the comfort of her home.

She was born in Clarksburg on December 29, 1948, to the late Benjamin Harrison and Ora Fay Casto Day. Along with her parents, Pooch was preceded in death by three siblings: Minnie Day, Juanita Day, and Jasper Day.

On August 20, 1982, Pooch married Donald Wade McClure, together they shared 40 years of marriage.

Forever cherishing their memories of Pooch’s spunky nature with her husband, are eight siblings: Mary Jacobs and Martha Burkhammer and husband, Carl, both of Weston, Renney Day and wife, Iris, Theodore Day, Wease Day and wife, Sandra, Thelma Hoover, and Richard Day and wife, Sandra, all of Buckhannon, and Byrd Foster and husband, Roger, of Elkins; and several nieces and nephews.

Pooch was a member of the Sago Baptist Church. She graduated from Buckhannon-Upshur High School in 1968. Pooch spent most of her career as a homemaker caring for her family. She also worked as a care giver for a few years, where she loved helping the elderly. Pooch had a great love for animals especially her “herd of dogs” and chickens. She also enjoyed browsing yard sales and rarely passed on a purchase. Pooch loved her home by the river where she was able to fish whenever she wanted. Pooch had a hardworking and fun spirit and will be missed dearly.
