Louella Marlene Hansford

Louella Marlene Hansford, age 75, of Buckhannon, WV passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, WV, with her son and husband by her side.

She was born June 23, 1948, in Upshur County. She was a daughter of the late Harvey Wentz and Myrtle Williams Wentz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Audra Lanham.

On June 23, 2001, she married Gary Hansford who survives. She is also survived by her son, Robie Messenger of Buckhannon; two grandsons, Brandon Messenger and fiancé Christina and Brian Messenger and fiancé Valerie all of Philippi, WV; two great-granddaughters, Avery and Kaitlyn, both of Philippi.

Mrs. Hansford was retired from the medical field, working as a switchboard operator at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon, as well as being a receptionist and secretary for several local doctors, such as Dr. Huffman, Dr. Hartman, Dr. Khan, Dr. Florez, and Dr. Farry. She was a member of the Broad Street United Methodist Church and formally a member of the Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church. She was always active with her former classmates and women’s groups.

As many of you know from the color of her front door, her favorite color was purple, and she absolutely loved cardinals as well. Mrs. Hansford didn’t know anyone she didn’t love and was a friend to many, to say the least.

Friends will be received Monday, April 15, 2024 from 1:00 PM – 8:00PM at the Poling St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Rebecca Romanello officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Nebo Cemetery and a celebration of life dinner afterward at The Outpost and Event Center on the Brushy Fork Road.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to “ARK From the Heart,” which is a 100% “Acts of Random Kindness” movement created by her son to honor Louella‘s memory.

Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com. Poling St Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
