GLENVILLE — As part of the Little Kanawha Reading Series, Glenville State University will play host to Trillium contributors on Wednesday, April 20 at 6:00 p.m. in the Robert F. Kidd Library. The event will also feature special guest reader, Tara Wine-Queen.

The event will serve as an opportunity for contributors to the Trillium, Glenville State’s annual student literary magazine, to present their works aloud. The Trillium was founded in 1979 by the GSU Department of Language and Literature. Much like the botanical trillium, this publication emerges in the spring with poetry, prose, photographs, and drawings from GSU students, faculty and staff, and the general public. Copies of the 2022 Trillium will be available for free at the event.

Headlining the event will be author and Glenville State University alumnus, Tara Wine-Queen. Her book, “Tenderness and Troubling Times,” reached number one on Amazon’s U.S. Short Stories Bestsellers list after its release in fall 2019. “It’s a book is about breaking and rebuilding, losing and finding, and families: the struggle to have and to keep them, the cycles they sustain, the haven they can be,” she said. She has also authored “The Baby Losers Club,” a novella that was released in August 2020. Additionally, the Weston, West Virginia native has a very successful social media presence where she interacts with readers and writers from across the world.

The event is free and open to the public.

The Little Kanawha Reading Series is a collaboration between the GSU Departments of Language and Literature and Social Science and the Robert F. Kidd Library. Its purpose is to provide a showcase for a diversity of literary forms and voices in order to acknowledge and enrich the cultural heritage of Appalachia and the communities around the Little Kanawha River.
