Wesleyan men fall on the road to West Liberty, 101-65

West Virginia Wesleyan men’s basketball fell 101–65 at West Liberty as the Hilltoppers led 52–29 at halftime and pulled away with 33 fast-break points. Isaiah Baker scored 16 and Jerell Baptiste added 15, with Wesleyan returning Jan. 3 vs. Wheeling.

WEST LIBERTY – West Virginia Wesleyan College men’s basketball fell on the road Wednesday night, dropping a 101–65 decision to West Liberty in Mountain East Conference play.

The Hilltoppers jumped out to an early advantage and took a 52–29 lead into halftime before pulling away in the second half. West Liberty shot 48.1 percent from the floor and used its transition game to score 33 fast-break points in the contest.

Isaiah Baker paced the Bobcats with 16 points on 8-of-12 shooting while adding three rebounds and three assists. Jerell Baptiste followed with 15 points, knocking down three three-pointers, and Stephen Ovia contributed nine points and three rebounds.

Milos Cirovic finished with six points, six rebounds, four assists, and two blocks, while Curtis Litton added seven points off the bench. Wesleyan shot 42.2 percent from the field and totaled 38 points in the paint.

West Liberty held a 45–30 rebounding advantage and forced 30 Wesleyan turnovers, turning them into consistent scoring opportunities. The Hilltoppers placed six players in double figures, led by Myles Montgomery with 17 points.

The Bobcats are away from the court until after the holiday break. They return to action on Saturday, Jan. 3 when they host Wheeling University at 4 p.m.
