Lila Marie Lofton See

Lila Marie Lofton See, age 89, of Buckhannon, WV, departed this life on December 16, 2022, at Serenity Care Home.

She was born October 4, 1933, in Hardy County, WV to the late Homer and Sadie (Sions) Lofton. Lila was the 4th child of 13 children. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Maxine Duhon and 3 stepchildren; 4 brothers, Chester, Homer (Junior), Jim, and Elmer Lofton; and 6 sisters, Mildred and Eloise Lofton, Bernice See, Patricia (Pat) Ottaviano, Freda Branson, and Ada Alderman.

Lila is survived by 2 sisters, Rose Sholes of Pricetown, WV and Libby (Roger) Abel of Buckhannon; 2 sisters-in-law, Cecelia Lofton of McLean, VA and Debbie Lofton of Buckhannon. Also surviving are 1 grandson and 4 granddaughters, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren of Louisiana, and several nieces, nephews, and great nephews and nieces.

For several years Lila worked at the Acme Bookstore before going to work as a secretary for Loudin Insurance. After Retirement Lila helped manage Jim’s Gun Shop with her life partner Jim Vogel who preceded her in death. Lila enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning, tending her flowers, and nurturing her younger siblings. Lila was also a proud member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 3663 in Buckhannon including serving as Past President.

A service will be held later at Christian Fellowship Church in Buckhannon with interment in Lewis County.
