Leanard Arch Patterson

Leanard Arch Patterson, age 81, of Greensboro, NC, died Thursday, November 30, 2023, at his home.

He was born April 2, 1942, in Clarksburg, WV, a son of the late Wesley Arch and Ruby Lee Patterson.

On June 17, 1967, he married the love of life Diana Sayre who survives. He is also survived by one daughter, Kathleen Patterson (Clyde Albright) of Greensboro, NC; one son, Chip Patterson (Andrea) of Swansea, IL; two grandsons, Zachary Patterson (Kait) of Belleville, IL and Cody Patterson of Swansea, IL; one granddaughter, Alexis Daughtrey (Jordan) of Swansea, IL; two sisters-in-law, Judy and Linda Patterson both of Buckhannon and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Terry and Kerry “Bill” Patterson and one sister, Judy Greene.

Mr. Patterson served in the U.S. Army for over 20 years including during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam and retired as a Master Sargeant. He continued to serve his country as a civil servant for more than 50 years. Mr. Patterson was a member of the Selbyville Volunteer Fire Department; the American Legion in Pickens, WV, the Disabled American Veteran Chapter 36 in French Creek, WV, a Master Scout with the Boy Scouts, and a Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Mason in Belleville, IL. Pat was a wonderful husband, fabulous father, and a great friend. He loved his country, family, and friends and dedicated his life to protecting them.

Friends will be received Saturday, December 9, 2023, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Dale Church Cemetery in Selbyville, WV. The Upshur County Honor Guard and the WV Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the graveside.
