Lavina Jeane Starkey

Lavina Jeane Starkey, 89, of Buckhannon, died Sunday, April 28, 2019, at the Serenity Care Home in Buckhannon. 

She was born July 23, 1929, in Hampton, W.Va., a daughter of the late Oral B. and Joy Alice Lewis Starkey. 

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother Andrew “Donald” Starkey and one sister Carolyn Lee “Toy” Smallridge. 

She is survived by one sister Patricia Ann Linger and husband Huelin of Buckhannon; one brother James O. “Jimmy” Starkey and wife Yong Ae of Vail, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.

Jeane was a graduate of Alderson-Broaddus with a degree in Nursing.  She worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Louis Children’s Hospital for 40 years. 

After retirement, she returned to West Virginia to live in her homeplace.  She was a Christian by faith and a member of the Hampton United Methodist Church.

According to her wishes, her body will be cremated.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.
