Lady Cats down Glenville State 11-0

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Wesleyan College women’s soccer team was back in action on Sunday to host the Glenville State Pioneers on homecoming weekend. The Lady ‘Cats easily defeated the first year-program, 11-0, to notch their ninth straight win.

The LBC got on the board early when MaKatlyn Tucker played in a cross to Natalie Prater who did the rest, placing a shot by the Glenville keeper to put Wesleyan up 1-0 in the sixth minute.

Prater tacked on another goal in the 12th minute when she played in a corner kick that deflected off a Glenville defender into the goal.

Minutes later Shannon Shawgo hit a shot to the bottom right of the goal off an assist from Prater, and just one minute later Tucker scored her second goal of the game, blasting a shot past the Glenville keeper off an assist from Jadyn Tavekelian.

Wesleyan took the 6-0 lead into the half.

The Lady Cats quickly increased their advantage in the second half when Brianna Bevil finished off a pass from Tucker to make the score 7-0 in the 47th minute.

In the 60th minute, Hannah Schoolcraft notched her first goal of the season when she got past the Glenville defense and beat the keeper in the back left corner.

Kayla Fay made a nice run past the Glenville defense up the right side of the field in the 68th minute and curled a shot around the Glenville keeper to make it 9-0.

Audrey Barber scored in the 76th minute off a through ball played by Natalie Pireu, and Danielle Jonas tallied the final goal of the afternoon in the 84th minute. She was assisted by Audrey Barber and Casey Underwood.
