Lady ‘Cats blank Glenville State 4-0 for first win of the year

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Sophomore striker Kameron Bonneau scored a pair of goals as the West Virginia Wesleyan (1-2-0) women’s soccer team cruised to a 4-0 Mountain East Conference season-opening victory over Glenville State (0-3-0) on Wednesday (Sept. 7) night.

Bonneau, a sophomore forward from Oak Hills, Calif., struck first in the 22nd minute to open the scoring. Maggie Queen dropped a pass to Bonneau, who capitalized on the goal-scoring opportunity. The ‘Cats fired 10 shots in the first half of action and held a one-goal lead at the half.

The WVWC offense poured it on late in the second half. Talia Stacy scored her first collegiate goal in the 74th minute, giving the Bobcats a two-goal advantage. Less than five minutes later, Ava Badallo snuck one past the GSU keeper and gave the Bobcats a 3-0 lead. Bonneau wrapped up the scoring in the 83rd minute with her second goal of the night and put the game out of reach.

Defensively, the WVWC back line and goalkeeper Ally Moore kept their first clean sheet of 2022. Moore saw five shots and made three saves.
