WEST LIBERTY, W.Va.– West Virginia Wesleyan (7-5, 0-1 MEC) women’s tennis was on the road Saturday for their Mountain East Conference opener against the West Liberty Hilltoppers (5-2, 2-0 MEC). The Hilltoppers ousted the Lady Bobcats by a final score of 6-1.
The Hilltoppers swept the doubles matches to gain an early 1-0 advantage over the Lady ‘Cats. West Liberty clinched by winning five of the six matches in singles.
Rebecca Osborne had a strong performance at No. 5 and took her opponent to three sets before winning the eventual tiebreaker. Osborne took the opening set 6-2 to take the early advantage. Her opponent would take the second set to send it to a third-set tiebreaker. Osborne stayed focused and composed throughout the tiebreak outlasting her opponent 11-9 to prevent the sweep.
