Lady Buc swimmers place fifth at Mohawk Invitational

MORGANTOWN – The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buc swimmers finished fifth in a loaded 12-team field in the Mohawk Invitational at Mylan Park last Saturday.

The Lady Bucs scored 171 points winning two individual events by Cadence Vincent.

Fairmont Senior won the event with 355 points while Morgantown was second with 313. Parkersburg was third with 251 points while Wheeling Park finished in front of B-U with 241 points.

Vincent won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.50 and the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.19.

Alayna Whitehair swam to two runner-up spots as she took second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:05.22) and the 100-yard backstroke (59.69).

The Lady Bucs also picked up two second places in relay events.

The foursome of Rylee Yardley, Whitehair, Vincent and Lillian Fetty was second in the 200-yard medley relay (1:59.96) and that same foursome was second in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:51.22).

The Lady Bucs were slated to in a dual meet with Elkins on Wednesday.

They will return to action next Saturday at Shepherd University in the Berkley County Invitational.
