Lady Buc lacrosse team shines in regular season finale with 16-5 win over UHS; ends regular season with 15-1 record

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buc lacrosse team wrapped up their regular season in fine fashion with a convincing 16-5 home win over the University Hawks on Monday.

The Lady Bucs raced out to a 9-2 lead at the break and cruised to the 11-goal win by taking the second half by a 7-3 score.

Miranda Greene led the offense with seven goals while collecting a team-high six ground balls.

Hannah Walton added five goals while Kendall Defibaugh had two goals and Reese Hutson and Gaidian Adams each had one.

Heather Hayes and Walton each had one assist.

Haylea Crichfield made six saves in the net for the Lady Bucs.

The win gave the Lady Bucs a sweep over the Hawks as they beat them 14-13 in Morgantown back on April 7.

The Lady Bucs finished the regular season with a 15-1 record.

They will begin pursuit of the state championship with a home playoff game Wednesday. The opponent at press time was still to be determined.

The outing will start at 7 p.m.
