ST. ALBANS – The Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneer lacrosse team rallied in the second half for a 6-5 victory over the homestanding St. Albans Dragons Thursday night.

It was the first victory of the year for the Bucs as they improved to 1-2 on the season.

The Bucs were down 1-0 at the end of the first quarter and trailed 3-1 at the half.

They tied the game at 4-4 at the end of three and went on for the one-goal victory outscoring St. Albans by a 2-1 margin in the final period.

Nathan Smith and Kaleb Roby each had two goals to lead the Buckhannon-Upshur attack while Tucker Hatfield and Easton Rice each had one.

The Bucs were outshot by a 24-19 margin.

B-U keeper Remmy Bonnett made 19 saves while Jared Randolph made 13 for St. Albans.

The Bucs were guilty of nine penalties while the Dragons were called for eight.

Roby had a game-high 16 ground balls for the Bucs.

B-U will return to action Saturday at home hosting Mountain State at 4 p.m.
