Lacrosse Bucs fall in opener to Fairmont Senior, 7-1

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur lacrosse Bucs had trouble getting their offense going in their 2024 debut against the Fairmont Senior Polar Bears Wednesday night.

The Bucs managed to get off 24 shots but only found the back of the net one time in a 7-1 setback.

Fairmont Senior took a 2-0 lead after the first quarter and put in five goals in the second quarter for a 7-0 lead at the half.

The Bucs kept the Polar Bears off the scoreboard in the second half.

The Bucs avoided the shutout with a goal in the third quarter by Kevin Bohnsack with the assist going to Zack Simmons.

Bohnsack led the team with 12 ground balls while winning seven faceoffs.

Remmy Bonnett made nine saves for the Bucs in net while Gage Scott closed out the game making one stop.

The Bucs will be back in action Saturday in Huntington against Mountain State.

The contest will begin at 2 p.m.
