Knabenshue named to Second Team All-State Softball Team

Buckhannon-Upshur freshman Madison Knabenshue, who led her team in hitting, scoring, and stolen bases, was named to the Second Team of the West Virginia All-State High School Softball Team.

TENNERTON – Madison Knabenshue certainly made her mark as a freshman on the Buckhannon-Upshur softball Lady Buc roster.

As an outfielder, she led the Lady Bucs in hitting with an impressive .491 average getting 26 hits in 53 at-bats. She scored 17 runs while driving in 15. She also led the team with 10 stolen bases.

She was rewarded for her outstanding freshman season as a Second Team selection on the West Virginia Sports Writers Association Class AAAA All-State High School Softball Team.

Previously, Knabenshue was named to the First Team on the Big 10 All-Conference Team.

She was the lone Lady Bucs selected to the All-State Team.

Junior pitcher Audrea Watts of Cabell Midland was named captain of the First Team after posting a 22-1 record with an 0.86 earned run average.

Junior catcher Hadley Lawson of Hurricane was named captain of the Second Team.
