Kimberly Sue Been

Kimberly Sue Been, age 65, of Pickens, WV, died Sunday, March 12, 2023, at the Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, PA.

She was born July 4, 1957, in Buckhannon, WV, a daughter of Eileen Sypolt Been of Pickens and the late Bert Been. In addition to her mother, she is survived by one sister, Dr. Beth Been (Dr. Robert Garvin) of Lancaster; two nieces, Carly and Emily Garvin both of Lancaster and one nephew, Grant Garvin of Lancaster.

Kim grew up in Pickens and loved her small community. She enjoyed a career at Mountain Valley Bank in Elkins, WV for 39 years where she served as Operations Officer. Kim’s main focus and joy in life was her family. She cherished her nieces and nephew and was their constant protector, advisor and cheerleader. She attended their games and graduations, taught them to drive, and showered them with gifts and treats and love. Kim was an avid bird watcher, animal lover and loyal friend to many.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and friendship and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A graveside service will be held 11 AM Monday, March 20, 2023, in the Pickens Cemetery in Pickens. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Kim’s honor to Pickens Historical Society, PO Box 94, Pickens, WV, 26230.
