CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — The Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center is happy to welcome back award-winning country artist Alan Turner, who brought his Kenny Rogers tribute, The Gambler Returns, to Clarksburg once before — this time with Dolly. Real Love: Kenny & Dolly, a Sunday afternoon tribute celebrating the music of Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton, comes to the Robinson Grand on August 23 at 3 p.m., with Alan Turner performing Kenny’s catalog and Laurie Lynn performing Dolly’s — plus the duets that made their partnership one of country music’s most beloved. Tickets go on sale Friday, June 19 at 10 a.m. on the Robinson Grand’s website.

The show covers 21 songs across three sets: Dolly’s solo catalog (including “Jolene,” “9 to 5,” “I Will Always Love You” and “Coat of Many Colors”), Kenny’s solo catalog (including “The Gambler,” “Lucille,” “Lady” and “Coward of the County”) and a three-song closing duet set featuring “We’ve Got Tonight,” “You Can’t Make Old Friends” and “Islands in the Stream.”

Alan Turner is an award-winning country recording artist from southeastern Michigan who has been inducted into both the Michigan Country Music Hall of Fame and the European Academy of Country Music Hall of Fame. He performed on the Grand Ole Opry stage in 2018 and knew Kenny Rogers personally — Rogers was not just his musical idol but a friend. That connection informs his tribute show, which covers Rogers’ career from his psychedelic First Edition days through his Nashville commercial peak.

Laurie Lynn grew up in western Newfoundland in a household steeped in country music and has been performing since age 9. Her Dolly Parton tribute, which she has been performing since 2019, draws on a naturally bright vibrato voice that closely mirrors Dolly’s distinctive vocal signature and the quick, warm sense of humor that defines Dolly’s stage presence.

“Last time Alan Turner was here with The Gambler Returns, he walked us through the biggest Kenny Rogers hits, the songs that never get old,” said Jason Young, Program Manager of the Robinson Grand. “But you couldn’t quite shake the feeling that something (someone) was missing. This time he’s not coming alone. Dolly’s coming with him. Now you’ve got the duets, ‘Islands in the Stream,’ ‘You Can’t Make Old Friends.’ There was a chemistry between those two that you just couldn’t manufacture. This show gets you both sides of it.”

Doors open at 2 p.m. The show begins at 3 p.m. and runs approximately 90 minutes. The Robinson Grand is located at 444 W Pike Street in downtown Clarksburg. Visitors should check therobinsongrand.com/directions-parking for current parking and route information.

Tickets start at $20. Official tickets are available only through the Robinson Grand — online at TheRobinsonGrand.com or by phone at (855) 773-6283. Avoid overpaying through a ticket reseller.
