Katrina Diane “Elmie” Harris, age 68, of Volga, WV, died Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at her home surrounded by family while under the care of Adoration Hospice and after a long, 15-year, hard-fought battle with multiple myeloma.
She was born April 2, 1958, in Buckhannon, WV, a daughter of the late Herbert and Deloris Karickhoff Smith. On September 3, 1977, she married Timothy Boyd “Pap” Harris, who preceded her in death on August 18, 2024. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Rodney Smith.
She is survived by one son, Aaron Harris and wife Tasha of Volga; two granddaughters, Raelee and Ariella Harris, both of Volga; one grandson, Waylon Harris of Volga; several brothers- and sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
Katrina was a warrior in her battle with cancer. Even though she was in constant pain, she didn’t complain and kept fighting. Her grandchildren were the center of her world, and Katrina fought hard to have as much time with them as possible.
Friends will be received Monday, October 5, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Tami Shoup officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.
The family would like to specially thank all the staff at Adoration Hospice and the close family members that helped her throughout her fight. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of choice.
