Karen Sue Payne

Karen Sue Payne, 75, of Buckhannon, W.Va., died Sunday, September 5, 2021, at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, W.Va.

She was born November 10, 1945, in Randolph County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Russell and Myrtle Wentz Talbott.

On January 22, 1966, she married Robert Eric Payne who survives. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Kathryn Conrad and husband Charles of Richmond, Va.; two brothers in law, Ted Payne and wife Gale of Nashville, Tenn. and Leon Glaspell of Columbus, Ohio and her closest blood relatives; nephew, Brett Talbott and wife Renee of Buckhannon; niece, Cynthia Vincent of Heaters, W.Va. and first cousin, Louella Hansford and husband Gary of Buckhannon.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, R.L. “Rusty” Talbott and two sisters in law, Betty Talbott and Jeanne Glaspell.

Mrs. Payne was a former Beautician and a member of the Country Roads Chapter of Good Sams Camping Club and a member of the Red Hat Society.

Friends will be received Monday, September 13, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery in Philippi, W.Va. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Lewis-Upshur Humane Society.
