Karen Gail Eubanks Oxford, 79, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon, WV. She was born in Amherst, TX on July 14, 1946, to William Hopkins Eubanks and Ruth Caroline Davis Eubanks.
A resident of West Texas for most of her life, Karen lived in Maple, Morton, Plainview, and Lubbock, and then Breckinridge, TX until 2012. At that time, she moved to Gainesville, FL to live with her oldest daughter’s family. In 2025, they relocated to Buckhannon, WV.
A graduate of Three Way School near Maple, Karen later earned a certificate in cosmetology leading to her early career as a hairdresser. Blessed with a “green thumb,” Karen worked as the Greenhouse Manager at Holland Gardens in Lubbock, TX for many years where she assisted and inspired countless friends and customers in their own gardening endeavors. Throughout her life, she nurtured a wide array of house and garden plants at her own homes up until her final days.
In her retirement, Karen was an avid card player, enjoying Hand & Foot, as well as games such as Bunco, Rummikub, and Bingo. She could be found regularly at the Senior Center in Gainesville, and later in Buckhannon, where she enjoyed playing these games and visiting with many wonderful friends.
