SHINNSTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Lady Bucs had a rough start to their season as they dropped a 59-20 road decision in their debut to the Lincoln Cougars Tuesday evening.

The Lady Bucs trailed after one quarter by a 19-5 score with Avi Travise putting in a jumper, Taylor Feather knocking down two free throws and Kylie Hull adding one free throw.

Two free throws from Feather and one from Gracie Gerwig was the only offense for the Lady Bucs in the second quarter as they trailed by a 31-8 margin.

In the third quarter, Makenzie Egress tallied four points and Feather, Gerwig and Travise each added a basket as B-U still trailed by a 47-18 count going into the final quarter.

A basket by Feather was the only scoring for B-U in the fourth quarter.

Adrianna Elder led Lincoln with a game-high 13 points while Aundrea Rockwell contributed 10.

Feather led B-U with eight points while Travise and Egress each had four.

The Lady Bucs will return to the court Thursday at Preston.
