JV Bucs rally in fourth but still come up short in 76-62 loss to Lewis County

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Bucs dug themselves too big of a hole to dig out of that even a dominant fourth quarter couldn’t help them in their contest with the Lewis County Minutemen Wednesday evening.

The Bucs were down by a 21-10 score after one and trailed 66-30 score heading into the fourth before dropping a 76-62 verdict.

B-U owned the fourth quarter winning it by a 29-10 margin, but they couldn’t overcome their 36-point deficit.

Damion White had seven of B-U’s 10 first-quarter points while Kadyn Baisden had two and Xavier Robinette one.

In the second quarter, Brody McDaniels had four points, White, Brody Jeran, Jacob Frye and Kaden Marks scored two each and Baisden dropped in a free throw.

The Bucs trailed at the half by a 37-23 score.

The Bucs lost the third quarter by a 29-7 margin with White putting in four points, Jeran two points and McDaniels one.

In their 29-point fourth quarter, Frye had nine points, McDaniels eight, White six, Riel Figueroa four and Jimmie Greene two.

Kyle Hayhurst led Lewis County with 21 points.

White had a team-high of 19 points for B-U while McDaniels had 13 and Frye 11.

The loss dropped the Bucs to 5-7 on the year.

Buckhannon-Upshur will be back in action Friday at Elkins for a 5:45 p.m. start.
