MORGANTOWN – It was a rough start to the 2022 season for the Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Bucs in their debut last week with the University Hawks.
The JV Bucs trailed 21-5 after one quarter of play and went on to lose a 65-34 decision.
B-U trailed by a 36-9 score at the half and was behind by a 51-20 count after three quarters of action.
The JV Bucs won the final quarter by a 16-14 score.
Chase Spencer led the JV Bucs in scoring with nine points while Blake Runyon added six.
Noah Kleech had a game-high 16 for University.
The JV Bucs, now 0-1, will be back in action Tuesday visiting Lincoln for a 5:45 p.m. start.
