Just Cuttin’ Up hair salon opens in former Sherry’s Hairport location

Becki Ferguson, manager, and Trent Westfall, owner, of the new Just Cuttin' Up hair salon located at 38 E. Main St.

BUCKHANNON – A new hair salon welcomed December by hosting a grand opening ceremony today, Saturday Dec. 1.

Downtown Buckhannon welcomed Just Cuttin’ Up, a hair salon owned by Trent Westfall, Westfall Farms Property LLC.

Becki Ferguson, manager of the salon, said Just Cuttin’ Up, located where Sherry’s Hairport was for roughly 30 years, is a family business and will offer a variety of services with the aim of meeting the needs of all ages.

When the idea of opening the salon came up, Ferguson said she wanted a place that had a hometown vibe for her customers to experience.

“I want it to feel like home. I wanted a place where people could come in and feel comfortable and feel welcomed and get that hometown atmosphere,” she said. “And a place where everyone is welcomed.”

Just Cuttin’ Up welcomes all of Sherry’s Hairport clients, Ferguson said, but is also focusing on the millennials.

With three stations currently, the hair salon will offer various dyes and highlights to keep up with the latest trends and spruce up your latest chop.

“Our product line is Keune and the color line is great. They have ultimate gray coverage for those who have the grays,” said Ferguson. “And then we have the more traditional hair styles with the roller sets for the older population.”

She noted the salon has a great product line for men as well.

Aside from haircuts and hair style, Just Cuttin’ Up offers waxing, manicures, pedicures, facials and nail repair services.

But that’s not all.

“Within a year, we hope to be offering massage therapy,” Ferguson said.

Veterans, first responders and military personnel always receive a discount, said Ferguson.

“We always support out veterans and military and first responders,” she said.

Throughout the day Saturday, prizes and free goodies were offered as the staff celebrated with the community.

A ribbon cutting took place at noon.

Tea, coffee and hot cocoa are always offered to customers.

“Come in, sit down and enjoy yourself, and just get to know the staff,” she said.
