Junior varsity wrap-up: Bucs fall to Wheeling Park; Lady Bucs tumble to Preston

TENNERTON – It was a tale of two different halves for the Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Buccaneers in their opener with Wheeling Park Tuesday night.

The junior varsity Bucs led by a 20-17 score at the half but were outscored by a 43-10 margin in the second half, including scoring just one point in the third quarter, in a 60-30 setback.

A pair of freshman led the JV Bucs in scoring as Jonas Barton tallied 10 points and Carter Zuliani put in seven points.

The JV Bucs were just six-of-18 from the free-throw line.

The JV Bucs, now 0-1, will be back in action Friday hosting Morgantown at 5:45 p.m.

KINGWOOD —  The Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Lady Bucs had a tough time getting their offense going in their season opener Tuesday on the road against the Preston Knights in a 56-15 setback.

The JV Lady Bucs managed just six field goals in the contest and were just one-for-14 at the free-throw line.

Brooklyn Smith led the team in scoring with eight points.

The JV Lady Bucs (0-1) will return to action Thursday hosting Lewis County at 5:45 p.m.
