He was born in Gassaway on March 15, 1963, a son of the late Harold Burl and Mildred Virginia Nicholas Brannon. Greeting Joe at Heaven’s Gate along with his parents, are one nephew, Jason Crites; and one infant niece, Tracy Brannon

Forever cherishing Joe’s ornery nature are six siblings: Sharon Short of Wadsworth, Ohio, Ally Coen and husband, Terry, of Flatwoods, Diana Crites and husband, Wayne, of Buckhannon, Harold Wayne Brannon and wife, Janice, of Bruceton, Tenn., Sheila Brannon of Ocala, Fla., and Charlotte Wamsley and husband, Buzz, of French Creek; and many nieces and nephews that cared for him greatly.

A Graveside Service will be held at Mt. Nebo Cemetery in Buckhannon at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 19, 2021 with Deb Dean officiating. Interment will follow.
