Joint operation in southern Upshur County yields multiple arrests

A joint operation conducted in southern Upshur County on January 23 resulted in numerous arrests, according to Upshur County Sheriff Mike Coffman.

The Upshur County Sheriff’s Office and both Upshur and Lewis County detachments of the West Virginia State Police participated in the operation, which began after deputies obtained a search warrant for a residence on Straight Fork Road.

The collaborative effort resulted in the apprehension of Dusty Turner Sr., who was wanted by West Virginia State Parole, according to a press release. In addition, Brice Turner was arrested as a fugitive from justice from Ohio. A subsequent search of Brice Turner allegedly revealed drugs, and he faces charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of suboxone and two counts of obstructing an officer by providing false identification to officers, the press release states.

Later that evening, deputies arrested Roger Tiffner Sr. for driving on a revoked license for DUI in the Rock Cave area, according to the release. Lawrence Burr was also arrested in Rock Cave for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Following a fight at the Kanawha Lounge, Joseph Morrison was arrested on felony charges of being a prohibited person possessing a concealed firearm, the release states. Deputies also arrested John Smith for driving under the influence of alcohol after he was allegedly observed traveling at a high rate of speed and running over a curb in Buckhannon.
