James Kenneth Phillips died unexpectedly on Friday, March 1, 2019, at his home in Buckhannon.
Jim was born Dec. 20, 1945. He was the son of Kenneth and Jane (Shannon) Phillips, who preceded him in death.
Jim is survived by two sisters, Janet (Phillips) Chandler and Marilyn (Phillips) Quick and her husband Arden, several cousins, nephews and nieces.
Jim was a graduate of B-U High School and Wesleyan College and a veteran of Vietnam War (1967-68). He was a longtime clerk and manager in the family business, Shannon’s Hardware on Main Street, and served as its president. After retirement he worked for Walmart.
He was a member and past president of the Buckhannon Elks Lodge 1736, where he will be remembered as an enthusiastic storyteller, a good neighbor and a friend.
