Inaugural Fairmont State Day at the Legislature

Fairmont State University students, faculty and staff worked to welcome and educate people in the West Virginia Capitol on Tuesday during the inaugural Fairmont State Day at the Legislature.

Lining the chamber halls with tables of information and giveaways, Fairmont State was proudly represented throughout the day. Faculty and staff discussed the opportunities at the University while students were happy to give their first-hand stories of how Fairmont State has impacted their lives.

“We were thrilled to be in the Capitol, speaking with our lawmakers about Fairmont State. It truly was a great experience,” Dillon Bradley, legislative liaison for the University, said. “Having the chance to interact face-to-face and allow people to see what a difference the University is making is proof that we are on the path to greatness.”

Throughout the morning as delegates and senators headed to their sessions, they were able to learn more about what Fairmont State is doing. A resolution was read in the Senate passing to make February 25, 2020 Fairmont State Day.

“This was a great chance to celebrate our commitment to West Virginia. Visitors had the chance to meet with members of the Falcon Family, learn about our one-of-a-kind academic programs, and see the kind of transformational impact that more and more students are finding at Fairmont State,” President Mirta M. Martin said. “We are looking forward to continuing this tradition in the future.”
