Ian Matthew Buckman

Ian Matthew Buckman, 40, of Buckhannon, W.Va., passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021, after a long battle with alcoholism.

He was born October 23, 1980, in Buckhannon, a son of William “Bill” and Janet Brady Buckman of Buckhannon. In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother, Tim Buckman and wife Tracy of Morgantown, W.Va.; one sister Kelley Carr and husband Rob of Buckhannon; seven nieces, Bailey, Halen, Emmalea, Alexis, Caroline, Ella and Madison and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ian was a graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School, class of 1999. He attended Marshall University and Fairmont State College. Ian was incredibly intelligent and he loved learning, especially about history.

Ian spent the bulk of his career in the food service industry. He was an excellent cook and he loved cooking for his family and friends. Ian also loved music and was an avid concert goer.

Ian’s life was full of adventure – from exploring the mountains and waterfalls of West Virginia, to driving cross county — twice. Above all, Ian loved his family, and especially all of his nieces. He was such a proud uncle.

A private service will be held for the family.
