Howard Scott Simmons

Howard Scott Simmons, age 49, of Buckhannon, WV, died Thursday, September 28, 2023, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

He was born October 20, 1973, in Buckhannon, a son of Ketha Tenney Simmons of Frenchton, WV and the late Howard D. Simmons.

On September 17, 2005, he married Lynn Reid who survives. In addition to his mother and wife he is survived by two daughters, Jordyn Simmons of Buckhannon and Adison Simmons of PA; one grandbaby on the way; one brother, Todd Simmons and girlfriend Beverly Riffle of Hodgesville, WV; two sisters, Tonya Miller and husband Brook of Fairmont, WV and Tammy Whitlock of Mt. Airy, NC; mother-in-law, Ella Marie “Old Granny” Reid of Buckhannon; brother-in-law, Chris Loudin and wife Jennifer of Tallmansville, WV; sister-in-law, Kari Gibson and husband Ron of Buckhannon; aunt and uncle, Jim & Connie Simmons of Frenchton; 14 nieces and nephews, Josh Curtis of Vandalia, WV, Chris Curtis of Parkersburg, WV, Jamie Poling and husband Justin of Rock Cave, WV, Rachel Ball and husband Adam of Adrian, WV, Amber Dulaney and husband Spencer of Mt. Airy, Logan Teter of Mt. Airy, Briana Locke and husband Samuel of Mt. Airy, Chrissy Loudin and fiancé Dustin Claypool of Hodgesville, Holly Loudin and fiancé Jeremy Ables of Lewis County, WV, Logan Loudin of Tallmansville, Emily Loudin of Tallmansville, Lacey Loudin of Tallmansville, Kaitlyn Gibson and boyfriend Redwan Kazi of Morgantown and Kailey “Lisa” Gibson of Buckhannon; several great nieces and nephews;  special great nephew, Corbin Claypool and his Mountain V friends and family as well as his new work family at Wolverine Trucking and special friends, Jeff “Arab” Herrick, Tom Queen, and Lenny Stone.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Leonard Reid.

Scott was a rig worker and a water truck driver for the oil and gas industry. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and jeeping. He was known for being an ornery jokester who was always happy and willing to give the shirt of his back to anyone in need.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 2 PM at the Living Word Church of God with Pastor John Darnall and Associate Pastor Chris Thomas officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family to help with medical and funeral expenses.
