HomeOwnership Center expands outreach in Upshur County this November

BUCKHANNON — The HomeOwnership Center is bringing financial empowerment resources directly to Upshur County residents each Friday in November.

As a nonprofit organization focused on building successful homeowners, the HOC aims to provide financial counseling, budgeting assistance and affordable lending options, according to HomeOwnership Loan Originator Chris Vance.

“We intend to be in Upshur County each Friday in November, with the exception of the day after Thanksgiving,” said Vance. “We’ll be visiting different locations that we believe can benefit from our services, helping families and individuals learn more about the path to homeownership.”

Some of the places Vance and HomeOwnership Advisor Jami Carpenter will be stopping by include Mountain CAP, Buckhannon City Hall, Lowes, West Virginia Wesleyan College, the Upshur County Board of Education Office, several banks, WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital and many more each Friday in November.

“Our services and presentations are open to anyone who would like to attend,” Vance said. “If someone is interested, they can reach out to us to gather information on the specific event they’d like to attend.”

For businesses interested in hosting an event, the process is simple.

“They may reach out to me or Jami Carpenter by email,” said Vance, providing Carpenter’s contact as jcarpenter@hocwv.org. “We would love to reach as many people in Upshur County as possible to share our services and discuss how we can assist.”

With the goal of expanding homeownership opportunities and offering ongoing community support, Vance added that they welcome input from residents on how HOC might better serve the county.

“If we can support the county in any way, we would love to hear from residents,” she said.

For more information about the HOC’s November outreach events or to schedule an attendance, interested individuals are encouraged to contact Chris Vance or Jami Carpenter by visiting https://hocwv.org/our-staff/.
