Help Wanted: City of Buckhannon seeking municipal office clerk

The City of Buckhannon is looking for a motivated, well-organized clerk to support its municipal and utility offices. The position is central to serving the public and helping manage the day-to-day operations of local government and utility services.

The City of Buckhannon is currently seeking a motivated and organized clerk to provide support in a municipal and utility office environment.  This position plays a key role in serving the public and assisting with the daily operations of local government and utility operations.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide clerical and administrative support to department staff and management
  • Respond to public inquiries in person, by phone, and by email in courteous and professional manner
  • Prepare, file and maintain official documents, records and reports
  • Data entry, answering phones and general office duties
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

Qualifications:

  • Applicant must be 18 or older with a high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills; ability to work under deadlines
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and walk in inclement weather

Hourly rate starting at $15.00 per hour with benefits. This is dependent on skills.

Applicants will be subject to skills testing, drug screening, and a background check.
