Early bird deadline approaching for superhero-themed Healthy Hero Hustle 5K run/walk

Local health enthusiasts and superhero fans, take note! The deadline for early registration in the upcoming “Healthy Hero Hustle 5K Run/Walk” is fast approaching. Participants have until Tuesday, August 27 to secure their spot at the discounted rate of $30 and guarantee themselves a race t-shirt.

The event, jointly organized by WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital and West Virginia Wesleyan College, is set to take place on Saturday, October 5, 2024. This superhero-themed 5K aims to promote healthy living while raising funds for the School of Nursing at West Virginia Wesleyan College.

The race will kick off at 9 a.m. from the fountain loop at West Virginia Wesleyan College, located at 205 Camden Ave in Buckhannon. Participants are encouraged to embrace the superhero theme by donning their favorite comic book character attire.

Early registrants will receive a swag bag along with their guaranteed race t-shirt. After the August 27 deadline, the registration fee will increase to $35; you’ll still get a swag bag, but t-shirts will no longer be guaranteed.

The event isn’t just for runners. A free health fair, starting at 8 a.m. on race day, will offer various health-related activities and information for all attendees. The fair will continue until noon, providing ample opportunity for community engagement. The health fair is open to everyone; you do not need to register for the race in order to attend.

The race will be professionally timed by Appalachian Timing Group, and awards will be given to top finishers. Parking is available at the Buckhannon Riverwalk and on the WVWC campus.

For those interested in participating in the 5K, registration is available for all ages on the race website. Children aged 5 and under can participate for free, although they will not receive a t-shirt.

Don’t miss this chance to be a real-life superhero for your community’s health and education. Register now at https://runsignup.com/Race/WV/Buckhannon/HealthyHeroHustle5K before the early bird deadline on August 27!
