Hazel Claudia Haymond Davidson

Hazel Claudia Haymond Davidson, 103, of Clarksburg, WV and formerly of Gaines, WV and Buckhannon, WV, quietly departed our world on Sunday, March 6, 2022.  She was born on August 11, 1918, in Upshur County, a daughter of Alpheus Forrest Haymond and Sarah Hannah Lee Haymond.

She married the late Clay Davidson on July 6, 1938. To cherish her memory, she leaves five devoted children and their spouses:  Jack Davidson and wife, Sue Marley Davidson of Gaines, WV; Marilyn Davidson Hargrove and husband, Robert Lindsay Hargrove of Pittsburgh, PA; Avis Franklin and husband Wade Franklin of Clarksburg, WV; Patricia Davidson Rhodes and husband, Tom; Alan Craig Davidson and wife, Darci Fox.  She was preceded in death by one son, Robert Clay “Nick” Davidson.  She has twelve grandchildren:  Cara, Jarrett, Lisa, Claudia, Stephen, Joel, Daniel; Derek; Inga; Nicki, Joey, and Chad.  In addition, she has fifteen great grandchildren and two great great grandsons. She has many loving nieces and cousins and a host of longtime friends and fellow church members.

Having given her life to Christ at an early age, she was an active church member at Salem Methodist Church, at Calvary Baptist Church, and Grace Baptist Temple, which she joined in 2021. Until poor health prevented, she regularly attended Sunday School, Sunday sermons, and Wednesday services.

She was a fifty-year member of Aletha Chapter #82, Order of the Eastern Star, Rock Cave, WV, where she had served as Worthy Matron.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, March 9, 2022. Friends will be received from 10:00-11:00 AM the funeral hour with Pastor Michael Tallman officiating.    Interment will follow in the Salem Ridge Cemetery.  Online condolences may be extended to the Davidson family at www.heavnerandcutright.com. The Davidson family has entrusted the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services with funeral arrangements.  

In Appreciation – For those who have come to witness and share their love and sympathy with us today, we are grateful. For those who have visited us through prayers, calls, cards, and flowers along with all other expressions of sympathy and support, we are thankful.  For Jesus who is always close by, we are blessed.
