ELKINS – Buckhannon-Upshur’s Evan Coffman and Landon Hitt shared low medalist honors with North Marion’s Dylan Runner at a four-team quad at the Elkins Country Club Monday evening.

All three golfers shot 40s.

It was the eighth time this year that Coffman has earned low medalist honors and the second time for Hitt.

The Bucs won the event with a team score of 170, seven strokes ahead of rival North Marion who fired a 177. The junior varsity Bucs took third with a 203 while Elkins was fourth with a 205.

Brayden Hamer shot a 43 and Tucker Hurst a 47 to round out the scoring for the Bucs while Isaac Lane carded a 48 and Easton Perkins fired a 55.

“We continue to be a strong team; however, we have a lot left to work on,” remarked Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Jason Westfall. “We want to be playing our best golf heading into the Big 10 and Region I tournaments. Evan continues to be consistent. We depend on him greatly and in addition, he still wants to get better. Landon’s low medalist honors comes just days after his first, so he is heating up. [Brayden] Hamer stepped up big for us today to help us secure our fourth win against the defending Big 10 champs in North Marion. He has been working hard on his game, and it was good to see him get some fruit of his labor.”

For the junior varsity Bucs, Tucker Burr led the way with a 47 while Jaden Westfall shot a 48, Parker Lockwood a 53, Jevon Westfall a 55, Jesse Hackett a 56, and Taylor Spratt a 59.

The victory gave the Bucs a 38-7 record overall and a 22-1 mark in the Big 10 Conference.

The Bucs will compete in the Big 10 Tournament on Monday at the Bel Meadow Golf Course.
