Golf Bucs take second at Bel Meadow five-team outing

MOUNT CLARE – The Buckhannon-Upshur golf Buccaneers had a strong showing in a five-team outing last Thursday at the Bel Meadow Golf Course as they finished with runner-up honors.

The Bucs carded a 182, just five strokes behind first-place Bridgeport who carded a 177.

East Fairmont was third with a 185 and Lincoln was fourth with a 190. Liberty did not field a complete team.

Jevon Westfall, who finished second overall, led the Bucs with a 42.

Easton Perkins was right behind with a 43 for the Bucs while Tucker Burr and Jaden Westfall each had 46s.

The non-scoring Bucs were Jesse Hackett and Jerin Westfall with 57s.

Jace Lancaster of Liberty earned low medalist honors with a 36.

“This was a solid effort,” remarked Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Jason Westfall. “The kids really are working hard on finding those two to three strokes that inflate their scores and eliminating them.”

The action left the Bucs with a 12-19 mark overall and an 8-13 record in the Big 10 Conference.

The Bucs will be back in action Wednesday with Grafton at the Tygart Lake Golf Course.
