Glenville State University unveils renovations to historic Clark Hall

Clark Hall Ribbon Cutting with the Clark Family

GLENVILLE — President Mark A. Manchin welcomed the Glenville State University Education Department, former deans, GSU faculty and staff, Board of Governors, Clark family and friends of GSU to a ribbon cutting for the newly renovated Clark Hall on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

“This ribbon cutting truly signifies the idea of the past meeting the present to guarantee a better future here at Glenville State University” said Manchin.

Along with the ribbon cutting, Skip and Shirley Hackworth were recognized for their donation of the new crystal chandelier displayed in the main entrance foyer.

The current Glenville State University Dean of Teacher Education Connie Stout O’Dell unveiled the new Wall of Deans at the event – dedicated to all of the former Deans of Education, many who were in attendance to celebrate the department’s new home. The Wall of Deans was made possible through funding by the West Virginia Humanities Council and the many donors that support the specialized archival projects completed by the Robert F. Kidd Library.

“We are proud and excited for the newest generation of Teacher Education students to walk the halls of this historic building and to continue in the great tradition of producing the best educators in the state of West Virginia” added Dr. Manchin.

A tour of Clark Hall followed the presentations and allowed members of the community to see all of the hard work everyone has put in to make this renovation possible.
