Glenville State University’s business program is now the College of Business, a change the university marked with a ribbon cutting on campus Wednesday, September 23.
Board of Governors Chair Ann Green read a resolution recognizing the new college, and she and President Dr. Mark A. Manchin signed it in front of board members, faculty, staff, students and alumni. Manchin and College of Business Chair Dr. J.D. Carpenter then cut the ribbon with a group of Glenville State students.
Carpenter said business education at Glenville State has changed a great deal in recent years. The Management and Accounting bachelor of science in business administration programs moved online, the university added a master of business administration with six specializations, the Computer Information and Analysis degree was retooled and several micro credentials were introduced.
He credited those who built the program before him.
“Today, we are able to stand on the shoulders of amazing people, who came before us including faculty, staff, students and alumni,” Carpenter said. “This transition to College of Business is possible because of them and the foundation that they built. We are excited to take this to the next level.”
Manchin called the new college “a reflection of Glenville State University’s continued commitment to preparing students for the opportunities and challenges of a changing world.”
“Our students are learning from faculty who bring both academic knowledge and real-world experience into the classroom,” he said. “As we expand our programs and reach more students, we are building on a strong tradition while creating new opportunities for the future.”
Carpenter closed with an invitation to prospective students.
“This is an exciting time to be a Pioneer,” he said, “and, as always, we welcome students to come be a part of our future.”
