Glenna Jean “Sis” (Smith) Tenney

Glenna Jean “Sis” (Smith) Tenney was born December 21, 1938 in Selbyville, W.Va. and entered into life eternal January 3, 2021. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Arlie E. & Bess  Brooks Smith and five siblings: Eleanor Mae (Bun) Loudin, Lois Elwanda (Wan) Woody, Avis Dale (Dade) Yeager, Arlie Junior (Squire) Smith,  Robert L. (Bob) Smith, Sr., and husband of 60 years Basil D. Tenney.

She is survived by her daughter, Denette of Sanford, Fla.; nieces and nephews: Vonda (Loudin) Wilfong of Chapmanville, W.Va.; Judy (Loudin) & husband Tom Newman of Doylestown, Pa.; Barbara (Yeager) Brown, Connie (Yeager) Rone of Beaver Falls, Va.; Debra (Smith) Herroon of Davenport,  Fla.;  Robert “Rob” L. Smith, Jr. & wife Debbie; Charles “Chuck” Smith Sr. & wife Carol; several grand-nephews and grand-nieces and some grand-grand nephews & grand-grand nieces. 

Known by a multitude of names: daughter, sister, wife, friend, mama, nana and auntie. Whatever she was called it all boiled down to the same thing — Love. 

She was a 50+ year member and was active for many years in the Order of the Eastern Star and she  was the holder of the Grand Cross of Color in recognition of her years of devotion to the Order of Rainbow for Girls.  She was the Altar Guild Directress at Christ Episcopal Church in Longwood and at St. Albans Anglican Cathedral in Oviedo, Fla. 

A viewing will be held at Oaklawn Park Cemetery & Funeral Home (Baldwin-Fairchild) on Thursday,  January 21 from 5-7 p.m.  A Requiem Mass will be held at St. Alban’s Anglican Cathedral on SR 426 in Oviedo, Florida on January 22 at 11 a.m. 

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Shriners’ Burn and Crippled Children’s Hospitals.
