Glen Wesley Hawkins Sr.


Glen Wesley Hawkins, Sr., age 82, of Rock Cave, WV, died Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon, WV.

He was born March 7, 1941, in Get Out, WV, a son of the late Norman and Margaret Florence Heater Hawkins.

On December 24, 1964, he married Jo Ann Shreve of Rock Cave. Also surviving are three sons, Dale Hawkins and wife Dauna of Buckhannon, Glen Wesley Hawkins, Jr. and wife Barb of Rock Cave and Donald Wayne Hawkins and wife Joy of Winchester, TN; two daughters, Pamela Joy Queen and husband Wayne of Buckhannon and Shirley Jane Corder of Clarksburg, WV; eight granddaughters, Andrea Grimm and husband Geof, Jamie Hendricks and husband Jimmy, Alisia Queen, Rebecca Nottingham, Erin Hawkins, Kailee Clark and husband Jay, Harmony Kopelov and Desiree Corder; four grandsons, Darren Queen, Aaron Harpold, Bobby Corder and wife Tasha and David Corder; six great granddaughters, Elena Winkle, Marci, Marigold and Magnolia Queen, Amara Corder and Haylyn Hendricks; six great grandsons, John Conley, Trey Nottingham and Levi and Ezra Corder, Bryant Winkle and Jacob Grimm; five sisters, Geraldine Belt of Amherst, OH, Carolyn Shreve of Buckhannon, Frances Lockhart of TX, Kathleen Able of Delaware, OH and Wilma Jean Nichols of Jacksonville, NC; one step sister, Bonnie Hitt; three sisters-in-law, Jodie Moran and husband Terry of Lexington, KY, Patty Bennett and husband Darrell of Raleigh, NC and Linda and husband Buddy Moran; one step brother, Johnny Christian.

Glen loved children and is also survived by many loved nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hawkins served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam. He retired from Kroger after 21 years of service and then was the owner of the I.G.A. in Rock Cave for 31 years. Glen served on many Boards including Upshur County Development Authority, SUBA, the Upshur County 4-H Camp, Central Lions Club and the Parrish House. He volunteered for reading and activities at Rock Cave Elementary School for many years. Glen enjoyed serving and volunteering for the community.

A memorial gathering will be held Friday, July 21, 2023 from 9 AM until 3 PM with a Memorial Service/Celebration of Life beginning from 11 AM until 12 Noon with the Revs. Michael Tallman and Doug Tallman officiating.
