Gilmer County man arrested for allegedly stealing Chevy Silverado

Pritt

HACKERS CREEK — A Gilmer County man was arrested Monday after allegedly stealing a Chevy Silverado last Thursday from a residence in Upshur County on the Hackers Creek Road.

Coy Lee Pritt, 24, of Linn, W.Va., was charged with grand larceny, a felony, related to the Dec. 17 incident.

According to the criminal complaint in the Upshur County Magistrate Clerk’s Office filed by investigating officer Sgt. Rodney Rolenson with the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department, on Dec. 17, 2020, Pritt was reportedly seen taking a 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD from a residence on the Hackers Creek Road in Upshur County.

Rolenson wrote in the report that Pritt was seen entering the property on Dec. 17 via video surveillance and subsequently “removed the vehicle in the early morning hours without permission.”

Rolenson noted the vehicle was eventually recovered in Gilmer County Monday, Dec. 21, and Pritt was driving the vehicle at the time. The file says the Silverado was valued at approximately $8,000.

Bond was set at $25,000 cash or surety.

The penalty for a conviction of grand larceny is imprisonment for a period of one to 10 years, or, in the discretion of the court, confinement in jail for up to one year and a fine of up to $2,500.
